This Saturday was the Faircape Point Break 60km mountain bike race, it was my first appearance on the mtb since my crash and my first race since June! Located in and around the Durbanville winelands it was always going to be enjoyable riding. I planned to take it relatively easy and kept my heart rate at and average of 159bpm, which is about 15 bpm lower than I would have averaged had I been going full on (I think). PPA One Tonner

On sunday I rode the ppa one tonner in a massive 153km loop around wellington/malmesbury. It followed almost the exact same loop as the previous weeks race so I knew what to expect! We got their a little bit late and instead of starting in H, I started in L which set me back quite a bit because the pace was quite a bit slower. First Road Race of the season

After spending seven weeks off the bike I had only had 4 real rides to prepare for the Engen Dynamic Cycle Challenge on Sunday, a 99km (shortened to 95) route from Nelsons Creek estate outside Wellington to Riebek Kasteel, Malmesbury and back. It is a fairly flat race comprising of mainly rolling hills and a 250m climb after around 30km. I have been back on my back for a few days now and have put down 6 hours so far! Shoulder has been a little bit 'incy' but that is probably because it no longer has any muscle...at all! The weather in CT has been nice and sunny and extremely windy, so nothing has changed at all in my absence!
